| Melissa Etheridge speaks out against Prop 8 decision June 2, 2009 at 11:53 pm |
| Last week, the California courts decided to uphold the November vote that struck down the right of same-sex couples to legally wed in California, and rocker Melissa Etheridge continued to be vocal about gay rights in response.
In a committed relationship with actress Tammy Lynn Etheridge (formerly Michaels), the singer said in a statement, "I wanted to wait until I knew that when I step into City Hall and I'm there with my wife and that clerk signs that piece of paper, I want to know that it's free and clear. My wife and I consider ourselves to be married, we would like that to be recognized some day civically."
The Etheridges exchanged vows in 2003 at Dick Clark's estate in Malibu, and it was then that Tammy legally changed her name. The couple welcomed twins Johnnie Rose and Miller Steven in 2006 via surrogate. Last October, Melissa said the couple was waiting for the right time to legalize their union.
Under the new law, the marriages of all same-sex couples who wed before Prop 8 will remain legally married - including talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and actress Portia DeRossi, and Star Trek's George Takei and longtime love Brad Altman.

| American Idol Kris Allen's wedding website found! June 2, 2009 at 2:08 am |
| Newly-minted American Idol, Kris Allen, married high school sweetheart Katy O'Connell on September 26th, 2008 at a park in their hometown of North Little Rock, on the banks of the Arkansas River.
In the wake of his victory on the TV singing show, his wedding website on TheKnot.com has been discovered, revealing details of the singer-songwriter's love story.
The couple knew each other in elementary school, but romance blossomed in high school (he in 11th grade, she in 10th), when the pair were seated next to one another on the school bus to All-Region championships for orchestra. From that day on, the pair were a couple.
Allen proposed on November 15th, 2007, and enlisted Katy's best friend (and future maid of honour) Leeanne Young to drive O'Connell to the town of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Thinking Allen was out of town, O'Connell had no idea that a proposal was to come. Dropped off by Young at a park in Fayetteville and told to look under a nearby bench, O'Connell wrote, "At first I was a little freaked out, but eventually obeyed."
Under the bench was a letter from Allen with memories of their time together, leading her to four benches with letters taped underneath holding their past, and a fifth bench with a letter that said, "Do you remember when it was November 15th on a cold night in Fayetteville, AR and I asked you to marry me?" Allen emerged from the bushes with a guitar and performed a song he'd written for O'Connell, the last words being, "Will you marry me?"
Following the wedding, the newlyweds jumped right into life in L.A. while Allen chased, and achieved, his Idol dream, and there's no slowing the couple - who'll be together as often as possible as he's about to embark on a national tour with the other Idol finalists - down yet.

But Janus and Womack stayed out of the linelight that evening to protect their exclusive magazine deal with OK! and appeared on this week's cover with some of Janus' EastEnders costars.
This is the second wedding for both. They have two children together and Janus is now stepmother to Womack's son with his first wife.

It seems bizarre but really cool at the same time, like, 'Wow – I did that!'"

| Terrence Howard not engaged to woman who is not his girlfriend June 2, 2009 at 12:22 am |
| Last week, blogs not only shared rumours that T.I. and his fiancee, Tiny, had been married, only to later report the rumours were untrue, they also reported rumours that actor Terrence Howard was engaged to girlfriend Zulay Henao.
Now, Henao's publicist has released the following statement to throw a wedge in the reports. "This story is not true. Ms. Henao is not engaged to Mr. Howard nor is she dating him."
We're not sure about that, either, considering they've gone on vacation together, and have made multiple red carpet appearances together in the past six months, including at the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors in late 2007.
